What does the PTSA do?
There are complex challenges facing students today. A Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is a non-profit organization comprised of engaged parents, staff, and interested studetns who work together to create a sense of connection and community at a school. PTSAs always played a pivotal role in supporting schools, but are more important now as we recover from a year of shut-down due to Covid 19.

Mitigating learning loss from a year of virtual school and reducing mental health incidents, also caused from the sense of isolation virtual learning brought, are additional challenges that schools now have to solve. A Parkland PTSA that includes ALL of us can work towards helping our students feel more connected with each other and supporting the staff. With enough funds and volunteers, we can plan additional social events for our students, provide scholarships, create new enrichment and academic activities, support Parkland teachers, and provide parents with relevant resources. When parents join and advocate for the needs of ALL children, they also help THEIR child succeed.
